I try to catch up on some sleep and have a little lie in this morning but I still feel super tired! My morning banana saves the day and gives me an excellent energy boost.
I pick up the latest issue of BBC Good Food magazine on the way home. It’s packed with such wonderful recipes, I’m almost salivating while I read it on the train. I have actually subscribed with one of those el cheapo magazine offers but missed the latest issue by a couple of days. So now I can look forward to the shiny and new issue in only a week or so!
It’s a lovely day for a run and I’m thinking of pounding the pavement when I get home but as it is, by the time I’m done for the day, I haven’t got the energy or the inclination. Besides, there’s work to do in the kitchen!
I’m going to see Romey tomorrow and meet her new baby and want to take her some baked goods. Remember, how she doesn’t eat eggs? Well, I’ve found the perfect recipe, Anzac Slice with Golden Icing. It’s egg free and keeps for up to a week so she can have seven days of sweet treats. However, after a quick taste test, I don’t think they’ll last her too long. They’re too good to resist.
I get all the blurb about my scan in the post. There’s a whole lot of do’s and don’ts. I was well prepared for the iodine free diet but the 10 days celibacy was a bit of a shock! If there’s even the slightest chance that I have a bun in the oven, they can’t go ahead with the scan. Abstinence is the only way to be sure, to be sure! Nuclear medicine, don’t ya love it?
We continue last night’s middle eastern theme and enjoy Harissa Chicken with Tomatoes and Olives for dinner tonight. I steam the potatoes and then crisp them up in the oven and sprinkle them with dukkah for a bit of extra crunch and a touch of spice. They’re very nice.
After catching up on Biggest Loser and some vegging on the sofa, it’s early to bed, so I can be early to rise; I’ve got a running date with Tracey in the morning…at 6AM! The early bird catches the worm!
