21 Days of Kindness – Week 2

8.  Feeding the homeless

I spotted a new homeless man who I hadn’t seen before. I popped out at lunchtime to give him a muffin. The smile on his face could have lit up the city. It melted my heart and broke it all at the same time. I was humbled. It may be the first muffin I gave him, but I don’t think it will be the last.

 9. Supporting a local charity

I was lucky enough to be invited to a class at the Cheese Making Workshop to support Stepping Stone House, a house for homeless teenagers. I enjoyed eating and making lots of cheese, but the best bit for me, was supporting such a worthy cause.

10. Cakes for my colleagues

I had been saving this Mixed Berry and Yoghurt Cake in the freezer, which was waiting to welcome a colleague back from holiday next week, who has since extended her vacation (the lucky duck.) Friday seemed as good a reason as any to have a cake fest with my colleagues. Life is better when you’re eating cake, especially if it’s a Friday. This scrumptious surprise went down a treat!

Let there be cake!

11. Visiting a friend in hospital

The beautiful Belinda is in hospital again! Although,  she’s in for some surgery that will hopefully prove to be life enhancing, it still sucks to be far from her friends and family. Their loss is my gain, however, and I get to swing by the ward and show this lovely lady some muffin loving.

12. Make time for each other

David and I haven’t been out for dinner just the two of us, for like forever. It was time and money well spent. The night ended with a Kurtosh. Have you ever had the pleasure of  eating one? Sweet dreams are made of these!

13. Muffins for the homeless

I hadn’t seen my usual muffin man for quite a few days and was just starting to worry, when I bumped into him at the station this morning. I was as happy to see him, as he was to see me and my muffins! I gave him a muffin and he gave me a compliment, “yay! you’re muffins are awesome!” which I guess gave us both a sweet start to the week.

14.  Thanks be to nurses

I killed two birds with one stone at the hospital today. I visited Belinda and baked a cake for the night nurses too. Just because they do such a wonderful  job. Is there any better reason? I rushed home from work to whip up another one of those Thermomix Melt and Mix Honey Cakes and delivered it at visiting time. I wish I had had a camera to capture their smiles and surprise. Anyway, it went down a treat as they had managed to munch through most of it by the time I left the hospital! Nurses rock! That cake is the least they deserve!
