Thirteen years ago, I came to Australia for the first time. It was love at first sight. I went to Bondi Beach, dipped my toes in the water, and with the sun shining down and the waves lapping the shore, I decided there and then that I wanted to live here. (I was good at making decisions in those days.)
After a courtship, an engagement, a wedding, a couple of residency visas, a stack of cash and oodles of red tape, I finally made it. Last week, we both became real Australians.
If you have a dream, keep on dreaming it until it comes true. Persistence always pays off.
