Melt and Mix Milo Easter Slice

Packed with honeycomb and drizzled with white chocolate, every bunny will love this malty milo slice!

While I was in the UK I became obsessed with all the British food and drink thatI know and love, included malted milk drinks. In the UK we have Horlicks and Ovaltine and I became rather partial to a malted milky mug before bed. Once I touched down on Aussie terra firma, I grabbed the next best Australian thing, Milo and conjured up this delicious slice. It is super easy and an eggstra special Easter treat. Better still, if you skip the chocolate eggs and the bunnies, this slice will be a kitchen perennial, it’s for life, not just for Easter!

Although it’s super quick and easy to make, this recipe does require a certain degree of patience because once baked the slice has to set in the fridge for a couple of hours before devouring. However, you know what they say, all good things come to those who wait and this is definitely a good thing!

Are you a fan of Milo? Are you a patient person?

How to – Traditional

  1. Preheat oven to 180 C / 160C fan-forced. Grease a 20cm square tin and line with baking paper, extending the paper a few centimetres  over the sides to form handles. This will make it easy to remove the brownies from the tin later.
  2. Melt the butter and mix with the sugar until smooth, then beat in the eggs.
  3. Add the Milo, flour and baking powder and stir until just combined.
  4. Fold in the Maltesers and spoon the mixture into the prepared tin. Bake for about 25-30 minutes until the edges are cooked but the centre is still a bit wobbly.
  5. Put the slice into the fridge for 2 hours. Once set, melt the white chocolate and drizzle over the slice, topping with Malteser bunnies and Mini Eggs if desired.
